Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult period, achieving just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.
Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This represents his maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.
Success also indicates he has secured 21 championships at twenty-one distinct events.
"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my children together, so to win a trophy is really nice," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.
Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular outbursts on court had led commentators to doubt if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.
But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, supported by an improved service.
He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the final five games to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first tour championship, gained dominance to create a third set.
Moutet defended 4 initial break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
