Minister Confirms Ministry of Defence Investigating Potential Threat from Chinese Cars, as Staff Instructed to Avoid Secret Talk in Cars.

A defense minister has stated that the Ministry of Defence is currently investigating the possible threats associated with Chinese-made vehicles, while personnel have been advised to avoid talking about secret matters in any vehicles.

Security Guidance for Defence Personnel

In a recently aired appearance on LBC, a defence minister commented on claims that MoD officials have been instructed not to talk about secret material while riding in China-made cars.

He stated that the ministry is “looking into” Chinese vehicles within its fleets, but stressed that safety is a concern in all modern vehicles.

Our department has a fleet of thousands of vehicles in the MoD and those vehicles account for a tiny fraction.
But whether you’re driving a vehicle from China or a car from another country, what we’ve asked our people is not to plug MoD technology into their vehicle, not to have discussions at a classified classification in any car, due to the growing threats of surveillance that exist in every single automobile, to restrict those confidential talks in protected areas. This is a wise and reasonable thing for everyone concerned about safety.

When it was put to him that it would be prudent for the MoD to stop using every Chinese vehicles, Pollard responded: ‘That’s precisely what we are looking into at the moment.”

Wider Defence Background

The revelation comes as reports from Scandinavian countries have warned the United Kingdom to the existence of dual-use shutdown mechanisms in Chinese buses, which could allow China to disable buses and cause chaos to transport systems.

Furthermore, a Russia spy ship was reportedly shining lasers at RAF pilots, described as a “highly dangerous” action by government representatives.

This broader defence situation underscores the importance of strong protocols and vigilance in all areas of government activities, from transport usage to discussions practices.
