Fall Classic Final Game Draws Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the US, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The nail-biting extended clash where the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a total 51M spectators in the US, Canada, and Japanese territories. MLB stated this is the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 showdown between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable game averaged 27.33 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It additionally stands as the most-watched World Series game after the 2017 edition final game involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This marks a 16% increase over the previous Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 placed 4th, the fourth game ranked seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and Game 3 landed in 13th position.

International Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game drew over 11 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English-language broadcast in the country after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding contest started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12 million viewers. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – drew 13.1 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a single network in Japan.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-game series recorded 15.71 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership increases for two consecutive seasons.

Including the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the total US average was over 16 million. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent increase compared to the previous year and the network’s strongest playoff performance since the 2017 season.

MLB stated that the World Series was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen various tongues.
